Duffey was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame in 2001 and inducted into the National Blues Hall of Fame in 2009. With his Blues Hall of Fame induction he was also named as a "Louisiana Ambassador of the Blues". Born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1950, Duffey began singing and playing piano at an early age; he was composing and performing professionally by age 14.
His first single, recorded in Nashville in 1970, was chosen by Billboard, Cashbox and Record World as "Pick Hit" and broke into the top 100 charts. He moved to Hollywood In his early 20s where Backstage Management managed him. He has written songs for and/or recorded with George Clinton, Funkadelic, Rare Earth, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Keith Richards, Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Anders Osborne, Little Queenie, Marcia Ball, Zakiya Hooker, Jerry Beach, John Autin, and other Louisiana and International artists.
He has been called "one of the most prolific songwriters living in Louisiana" and has recorded 11 critically acclaimed cds of original material to date. His vast multi genre catalog of material contains not only songs, but instrumental and improvisational works, as well. A poetic lyricist, his songs are intelligent, intellectual, sophisticated and soulful, whether solo or with full production; on record or performed live.
Living and working off and on in New Orleans from the 1960s - 1990s, he absorbed that city’s Jazz and Funk musical styles and mixed them with his own North Louisiana Mississippi Delta roots: Delta Blues, Louisiana Rock and Roll, Memphis Soul and Gospel. Incorporating traditional Louisiana piano styles with his own improvisational style, his inimitable soulful voice, Doug Duffey has entertained audiences internationally, promoting both traditional and his own original Louisiana Music for 4+ decades. Onstage, he serves up a steaming hot and spicy gumbo of Louisiana soul, whether solo or with his International Soul Band.
In the early 1990s he 1st toured Europe and has been performing between there and Louisiana, since. He has appeared many times at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival [solo and w/band] since the late 1970s; has performed at the Louisiana Folklife Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Heineken Jazz Festival and many other major International music festivals, the best concert halls and music venues in the US and Europe. He has appeared on television, radio, interviews, and global live Internet broadcasts.
His career spans over 55 years and has carried him from his native Louisiana to International success.

New Single "Bayou Baby" Out 8/19/22!

"I was born on Saturday and singing on Sunday," as Sera so aptly puts it. "Music is in my blood, and the road I've traveled can't help but form my music."

It's true; her voice will remind you of love, pain, and laughter all at once.

This prodigal daughter returns home to embrace her roots to record what she calls “the front porch songs”.

Hummingbird Tea will be released on October 14, produced by Serabee and John Autin of Rabadash Records with distribution through Amped. Special mixing production appearances by Marc Hewitt (Allen Toussaint), Zach Allen (Kingfish/Keb’ Mo’), and Gary Katz (Steely Dan) give that shimmer to Serabee’s incredible songs.

Hummingbird Tea has been in the works for a couple of years with writing and recording, and it’s well worth the wait. The album consists of 14 original songs ranging from building grooves to stripped-down tear-jerkers dripping with soul from end to end.

    • About Rabadash Records

Rabadash Records, one of the oldest independent labels in the country, celebrated its 35th anniversary year of making great music in 2019. May we enjoy another 35 years!

The label's primary focus since their very first release has been a commitment to preserving the music of New Orleans and southern Louisiana with works by legacy artists and new performers who embody the Crescent City's rich musical traditions.

Rabadash started almost by accident; it wasn't even conceived until label co-founder John Autin found himself on the outside looking in on a spoiled album deal. "We just fell into it," Autin recalls. "I started Rabadash with singer, Nora Wixted, who was my girlfriend at the time. We had negotiated a deal for Nora's album, were ready to sign, and the label called us up at the last second and told us they were signing a different singer instead. Since we already had all the tapes, the artwork and everything, we decided to start our own damn label! We released Nora's CD and then immediately recorded legendary piano player and singer, Al Broussard. He was almost 78 at the time and had never been recorded before even though he'd been playing on Bourbon Street since the 1920's.

Those two records came out in 1984 and we were off and running. We started off doing two or three releases a year, but we had to go dark for a while due to Hurricane Katrina. We didn't do anything for a few years, but we came back about 10 years ago. Last year Rabadash Studios moved to Mandeville, La and took over the location formerly known as Balance Studios, and now we’re able to do about six releases a year and record other non-Rabadash artists in our world class facility." Welcome to the Rabadash world of amazing music!
