It's almost fitting that Amanda Walker hails from a rural Missouri town about halfway between Memphis and St. Louis, because her songs build on the musical roots that run deep through that part of the country. A highly skilled songstress who's been breathing fresh air into the NOLA music scene since her arrival in the city in 2006, Walker deftly uses her piano and voice to create enchanting tunes that fuse blues, americana, indie rock and modern pop into something altogether original. Drawing on a deep catalog of her own songs, as well as an encyclopedic array of covers from Patsy Cline to Pink Floyd, she weaves tales that make her one of the city's most effervescent and endearing entertainers.
After an undergraduate career spent mostly on the tennis courts and in painting studios of Southeast Missouri State University, Amanda landed in New Orleans to pursue a juris doctorate degree from Tulane Law School in the heart of musical and artistic creativity. It has been this city’s authentic spirit of rebirth and creation that has given rise to Amanda’s most recent musical endeavors. Her music revels in the notion of rising from ashes and reincarnating oneself with each life lesson. It is a collage of snapshots of pure emotion that come from living each day to the fullest.
